"Nothing like this," I said, and held back from saying that I wasn't sure whether I had any hobbies at all. I mean, I read. But beyond that so much of my life had been about caring for others. About preparing to fulfil my duties. I hadn't kept up with my art or any of the sports we played at Hailsham. Thinking about it now, it seems a little sad. But I had time.
